Youth Drama Camp

Youth Drama Camp: HONK!

What Is It?

Hope Christian Fellowship of Warrenton is hosting a youth musical drama camp designed to give campers the opportunity to develop and practice skills in musical theater — singing, choreography and drama — as they enjoy the process of bringing a production to the stage in just one week!

Honk! The Award-Winning Musical Tale of the Ugly DucklingThis summer we're presenting Honk! Since it first hatched in 1993, this musical has winged its way around the world in over 8000 productions and in many different languages. A world-wide stage sensation that has been seen by over 5 million people, Honk! has won multiple awards including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical (beating the Lion King and Mamma Mia for the prize!).

Based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling", Honk! tells the story of an odd-looking baby duck, Ugly, and his quest to find his mother. Soon after Ugly is born, he is seduced away by a wily Cat who wants to eat Ugly for dinner. Eventually, Ugly manages to escape but has no idea how to return home. In the adventure that ensues, Ugly encounters a menagerie of characters who ultimately help him discover that he is very special just the way he is, no matter what others might think.
