What Is It?

Hope is hosting its annual Drama Camp designed to give students the opportunity to develop and practice skills in musical theater — singing, choreography and drama — as they enjoy the process of bringing a production to the stage in just one week!

This year we're producing Seussical the Musical! All of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters come to life in an outrageously funny and surprisingly heartwarming tale filled with elephants, monkeys, birds, and certain hat-wearing Cat mixed in among the Whos of Whoville. This production offers great opportunities for multiple soloists and ensemble alike.

The cost of the camp is $100/student.

Drama Camp is open to all students ages 15 through age 21.

When Is It?

• Rehearsals: Monday, July 23 thru Friday, July 27 (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM) at Hope Theater.
• Performances: Friday, July 27 (7:00 PM) & Saturday, July 28 (2:00 & 7:00 PM) at Hope Theater.

Because of the compressed rehearsal schedule and the nature of our Drama Camp, there will be no excused absences from rehearsals or performances, and all participants are expected to arrive early and remain through the entire event.

Auditions

• Saturday, July 14 (10:00 AM)
• Sunday, July 15 (2:00 PM)

Auditions will be held at Hope Christian Fellowship (4173 Bludau Drive, Warrenton, in Vint Hill).

Participants must attend either one of these auditions, or make prior arrangements with the Producer to submit a video audition. There will be no callback auditions, and participants will only be allowed to attend one of the auditions nights. Arrive promptly! Important information will be shared at the beginning of each Audition session.

You should come prepared to sing a song (a capella) from a Broadway musical other than Seussical. No contemporary pop-songs or movie themes, please. Choose a song that demonstrates your vocal range and volume, keeping in mind that this show is a big production with very dramatic characters. You may also be called upon to demonstrate your comedic ability and timing through improvisational work at the audition.

Performances

Friday, July 27 (7:00 PM) and Saturday, July 28 (2:00 & 7:00 PM) at the all-new Hope Theater in Vint Hill, Warrenton. Enjoy a great new stage, state-of-the art sound & lighting, and plenty of comfortable seats.

The performances are offered free to the community. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Information about Care Net Pregnancy Resource Centers will be available at the performance; those who are eager to financially support the Hope Drama Camp are encouraged to support our partners at Care Net instead.
